Hundreds of thousands of reconstructive middle ear surgeries take place every year worldwide. Yet surgical outcomes with passive middle ear implants vary considerably and are hard to control. Research shows that prosthesis length and its position on the footplate are critical for effective sound transmission to the inner ear. With real-time and precise measurements, surgeons can tailor implants so that they work best.
At Acoustic Insight, we develop an advanced endoscope that gives surgeons real-time feedback during surgery. Our goal is to reduce harm to the intracochlear structures during electrode insertion.
Our solution, based on optical coherence tomography (OCT), uses a laser to visualize the inside of the cochlea through the round window in real time. It also enables surgeons to measure critical anatomical parameters - supporting smooth, safe electrode entry.
We offer our OCT platform to clinics and research institutions eager to explore this novel imaging technology. Our product is under development and not yet medically certified, it is strictly intended for investigation and research purposes.
